South Dakota Tuition Rates
The South Dakota Board of Regents establishes tuition rates for all South Dakota Public Universities. The 2025-2026 tuition rate for active duty service members attending 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ State University courses are:
Undergraduate
$250.00 per credit hour
Graduate
On-Campus Resident $342.90 per credit hour
On-Campus Non-Resident $640.20 per credit hour
Off-Campus $484.10 per credit hour

Tuition assistance
- Prospective current military students planning on using Tuition Assistance (TA) benefits must first receive approval from their Education Service Officer (ESO), military counselor, or service branch prior to enrollment.
- Follow the application process identified by the service member's military branch.

South Dakota Tuition Assistance (STA)
- SDCL 33-6-5 - 33-6-8.1 Provides that Guard members, who meet the requirements for admission, are eligible for a 100 percent reduction in tuition charges at any state supported school for undergraduate programs up to 128 credits and graduate programs up to 32 credits.
US Department of Veteran Affairs Education Benefits
– Chapter 30 – The Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (MGIB-AD) can help you pay for education and training programs. If you’ve served at least 2 years on active duty, find out if you qualify for the MGIB-AD program.
– NOTE – If you choose to use the Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) instead of the Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (MGIB-AD), you can’t switch at some later date to the use the MGIB-AD.
– Chapter 36 - Personalized Career Planning and Guidance (PCPG), or VA Chapter 36, offers free educational and career guidance, planning, and resources to veterans and their dependents who are eligible for a VA education benefit.
