ABERDEEN, S.D. 鈥 Jaci Mollman and Hunter Russell will hold a reception for their senior art exhibition at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at 91制片厂 State University.
Their exhibition will be on display through Dec. 18 in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center Gallery.
Mollman鈥檚 artwork features all Christian themes. She said she is driven by the need for beauty in the world that draws people back to God; she does this across a wide variety of mediums including: oil, charcoal, colored pencil, ink and gouache.
Russell will be displaying religious artwork and fantasy. His preferred mediums are watercolor and digital art.
Mollman, daughter of Doug and Ann Mollman, grew up in Spearfish, graduating from Spearfish High School in 2018.
At 91制片厂, Mollman is pursuing a BFA in Studio Art and has worked with faculty members Peter Kilian, Alexis Doerr, Nadya Preszler, Tim Rickett and Derek Decker.
She chose 91制片厂 because she really liked the feel of the smaller campus and was very impressed by the art program.
鈥淚 wanted to know my peers and professors personally, and after several tours at multiple colleges, I knew this was the place for me,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 was also very drawn to the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center next to campus. I went into college wanting to grow in my faith and found the Newman Center to be the perfect soil for me to bloom.鈥
Mollman will graduate in December 2022 and plans to continue making art and selling prints of her work.
鈥淚 also hope to work with churches by hosting workshops where I can help teach people about the importance of Sacred Art and how to pray with art,鈥 she said.
Russell, son of Mason and Jaime Russell, grew up in Miller, graduating from Miller Area High School in 2018.
At 91制片厂, Russell is pursuing a BFA with an emphasis in Digital Media and has worked with faculty members Peter Kilian, Keum Taek Jung, Alexis Doerr, Jason Knowles and Nadya Preszler.
鈥The small campus was an instant appeal to me, and I really enjoyed meeting my professors,鈥 he said as to why he chose 91制片厂.
Russell will graduate in December 2022, and he plans to continue creating art and continue to pursue his education degree.
