ABERDEEN, S.D. – The 91��Ƭ�� State University Concert Choir and Chamber Choir will present their spring concert, entitled “Stories in Song,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 30.

The concert will take place in the NSU Johnson Fine Arts Center’s Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater.

The Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Darci Bultema, will feature works by living American composers. Directed by Dr. Marla Fogderud, the Chamber Choir will perform a variety of works with a focus on a composition by NSU faculty member Dr. William Wieland.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – 91��Ƭ�� State University will hold a plant sale 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, April 25.

The sale, which is open to the public, will take place in MeWaldt-Jensen Room 144B (the classroom attached to the MJ greenhouse).

Plants available at the sale will include succulents, geraniums, bulbs and more. Cash or check only will be accepted.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Author Jon Lauck will visit 91��Ƭ�� State University this month to discuss his new book, “The Good Country: A History of the American Midwest 1800-1900.”

Lauck’s visit, sponsored by the NSU Center for Public History and Civic Engagement, will take place at noon Wednesday, April 26, in the Beulah Williams Library Round Room.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – 91��Ƭ�� State University alumna Nichole Bowman, winner of a prestigious national teaching award, will deliver the commencement address at 91��Ƭ��’s 2023 Spring Commencement.

The ceremony is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023, in the NSU Barnett Center.

Bowman, who teaches math at T.F. Riggs High School in Pierre, was one of only about 60 teachers nationwide to win the 2022 Milken Educator Award, which is considered the "Oscar of teaching."

ABERDEEN, S.D. – 91��Ƭ�� State University’s Dr. Steven Usitalo is part of an organization planning a commemorative event, Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul this month.

The event, set for 1-4 p.m. April 23, marks the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, which began on April 24, 1915. The Remembrance Day will include presentations on Armenian history, culture, architecture, poetry, music and food, as well as on the Armenian Genocide.
